New Bedford Man Charged in Dartmouth Capri Motel Stabbing
DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — Police have charged a suspect in a stabbing at Capri Motel in Dartmouth on August 21.
Dartmouth Police received a 911 call from the State Road motel regarding a fight and possible stabbing on Wednesday at noon. The next day, they arrested Isaiah Ventura, 20, of New Bedford.
Witnesses at the motel reported that there was a fight in progress involving a knife. Once officers arrived, they located a male in the area with a stab wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police found Ventura in Fall River and took him into custody.
Ventura is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
"I am proud to see the unwavering dedication that members of this department have. It shows a true commitment not only to the Dartmouth Police Department but more importantly, to keeping our community safe," Dartmouth Police Chief Brian P. Levesque said.
"Due to the steadfast collaboration of our detectives, officers, dispatchers and all involved, the suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody without further incident or threat to the public."
