DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — An alleged shoplifting incident at Kohl's led to gun charges for a Fall River man.

The incident unfolded at the Faunce Corner Road department store on August 17.

Police said Carlos Pina Silva, 38, left the store in a black sedan with the allegedly stolen merchandise by the time they arrived. They stopped the car shortly after.

Police said they found the Kohl's merchandise and a small amount of suspected crack cocaine in the vehicle. Officers said they also found a loaded .22-caliber firearm with a defaced serial number in the trunk of the car.

Silvia was placed into custody and is being charged with shoplifting by asportation, receiving a firearm with a defaced number, improper storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a class B drug.
