Despite social media rumors, the Persy’s Place in Dartmouth has not been sold and is not for sale.

Two of the Persy’s locations have recently closed, but the six remaining locations – including Dartmouth – are still going strong with the owner of some of those locations coming on as a managing partner in the other locations.

In addition to Dartmouth, Persy’s Place has locations in Wareham, Falmouth, Mashpee, Kingston and Middleboro.

The rumor started Wednesday morning when a woman posted to a Facebook restaurant review group that she had a bad experience at the Dartmouth Persy’s that morning, and claimed the staff told that they “they are being sold.”

That led to others chiming in with speculation and misinformation about the sale of either that particular location or the entire group of Persy’s locations – none of which was true.

Her negative review aside (your humble writer personally has always had a fantastic meal at any of the Persy’s locations), we felt we had to put the rumor to rest.

“No, the Dartmouth location is not for sale,” Jahni Clarke, General Manager of Persy’s Place, told us. “We made the business decision to close our Hyannis and East Providence locations, but we are still operating our six other locations with no intention of shutting down as we begin our 41st year of operation.”

He said that Josh Fazio, who started off as a server at Persy’s Place before working his way up to becoming an owner of four of the eight franchises, is now taking over as operational managing partner in Dartmouth and Kingston.

“Josh and owner/founder Newt Heston now run all locations together,” Clarke said.

So fear not, Persy’s Place fans. There are still plenty of homemade fish cakes, dishes of corned beef hash and Persy’s signature cornbread in your future.
