Not all heroes wear capes, unless of course it's trendy and in style in this case.

If there's something you should know about me, it's that I lack the skill of style. I'm never in the loop of what's trending or what's hot. Give me a pair of baggy blue jeans and some Timberland boots and I'm happy. Unfortunately, the "look" I'm comfortable with isn't exactly the most attractive.

The problem is not that I'm against stylish or form-fitting clothes, the problem is that I don't know where to begin or what to shop for.

In a couple of days, I'll be traveling with my girlfriend to the beautiful Punta Cana, where it's very tropical and a bit more "European" when it comes to style. I was informed that I should look for a couple of bathing suit bottoms that were a little less baggy and a little higher above the knee—much higher than I'm used to.

I found myself walking aimlessly around the Dartmouth Mall, wondering where I would find these "short shorts" and long story short, I took a chance on H&M for Men, a store I never in a thousand years thought I'd be walking into. Again, I found myself wandering around, looking for the bathing suit section when I finally drew the white flag and asked for help.

It was then that I met a young man by the name of João Paiva, a Fall River native.

"Look, João," I said, "I'm going to come clean and admit that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, what I'm looking for or what I should try on. Can you help me?"

"No problem!" Paiva said confidently.

He asked for my size and then took four or five bathing suits off the hanger, each one a different color. He then gave me the cold hard truth about which ones would work and which ones conflicted with my pale skin.

Fast-forward to the changing room, where I was stunned that I actually felt and looked good in these extremely short bathing suit trunks (at least I thought so). As I tried on bathing suits, I heard Paiva speak up from the other side of the curtain.

"I'm going to grab you a few tank tops that will match with those swimsuits" he explained, only to return moments later with three tank tops that not only matched but fit perfectly.

Not once did I ask him to get a different shirt or shorts or even felt uncomfortable. He simply took the bull by the horns and did his job with professionalism and skill.

Before I knew it, I was in and out of the store in record time, considering I would have been in there all day if I was too stubborn to ask for help. I'm now in the best mood ever, because not only do I enjoy my new clothes, but my girlfriend is loving the new look. It's a win-win situation that could have only been produced by the loyalty and excellent customer service from João Paiva.

If anybody needs some fashion advice, this is the guy to talk to, hands down.

Kudos, João!
