Dartmouth Now Offering BBQ Boat Rentals
Padanaram in Dartmouth has a new boating adventure that includes our favorite summer pastime and food: BBQ.
It's adorably named "Grub Tub" and the folks behind it are taking reservations to rent out their donut-shaped boats for a few hours and have a BBQ.
We spoke with Joey Chedid, founder and owner of Grub Tub in Dartmouth, to get a little more info on this new experience.
Chedid has lived in Dartmouth his entire life and has been fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time on the water. He realized that most people don't own a boat and usually have to wait for an invite or rent one from a local, and that gets really expensive.
"Whether you’re grilling with your family at sunset or enjoying a laid-back afternoon with friends and coworkers, this isn’t just a rental – it’s a lifestyle," he said. "Now, it’s something everyone can access."

The whole process is pretty simple; it literally took me under five minutes to book.
As far as the food, beverages and sunscreen, those you need to bring yourself; however, they do offer Anchored Delivery Service. This service is a phone call away and they will provide on-the-water delivery to you so you can stay out on the open seas.
The first rides can be booked starting on June 22 but you may have already seen their donut-shaped boats buzzing around as they finalize and configure everything for the best possible experience.
I did ask Chedid if a professional joins you on the boat.
"Nope, and that’s intentional," he said. "While Grub Tub is already a unique experience, we wanted to preserve that laid-back vibe where you can truly be yourself with friends and family, without a stranger onboard."
For those that just want to show up, relax, and not have to cook – such as myself –Chedid shared that Grub Tub has something in the works and is working closely with a local food business in New Bedford to offer pre-arranged catering that will already be boarded and arranged.
Now I just need some friends to join me. This sounds like the perfect little adventure.
