It has been almost a week since someone broke into James Casey's 2007 blue Chrysler Seabring on Shawmut Street in Fall River.  Not only did the thief steal cash and personal items, they also got away with something more important.  His daughter's ability to communicate.

Inside of 14 year old Sacred's pink and blue Disney backpack with "Frozen" characters on the front, was her Samsung Augmentative Communication Device with software installed that she uses every day to speak to family and friends.

To the average person it looks like "just a tablet or iPad" but it is much more expensive to replace.  It took James 2 years and cost $5,000 dollars just to get the one that is missing.

Sacred's dad tells FUN 107 his daughter is a freshman at Durfee High School.  She has severe autism and is completely non-verbal. Her device is a black with a gray case (similar to the one pictured below) with an attached speaker on the back with a long strap.

Unfortunately, James' car insurance policy does not cover replacing the device, so he is begging, if you have it, or know who might have stolen it, please drop it off at the Fall River Police Department or contact him, no questions asked. His cell phone number is (508) 431-0693 or you can call Detective McDonald at (508) 324-2805.

In the meantime, James has started collecting money to get started on purchasing a replacement device for Sacred.  As of Sunday night over $2,000 has already been donated.
