City Man Makes Bail And Arrested Two Days Later

A 19 year old New Bedford man, already out on bail on charges of unlawful carrying of firearms, was arrested again Friday night for stealing a car.

Rayshond Lewis was arrested around 7pm after being found on Water Street with a stolen 2006 BMW. A second man, 23 year old Emmanuel Barros of New Bedford was also charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Public Information Officer Lt. Amos Melo says Lewis was arrested on gun charges in October, 2013 and January of this year.

A dangerousness hearing was held March 28th in Superior Court and bail was set at $5,000.

Melo says Lewis made bail on April 12th and was arrested two days later.

Both Lewis and Barros will be arraigned on the stolen car charge Tuesday morning.
