Checking Off A Major Item From My Bucket List
The day is finally here. I am crossing off a MAJOR item from my bucket list!
Ever since I was about 10 years old, I've been a huge wrestling fan. I started watching WWF (now WWE) with my Dad and my brother every Saturday morning and before I knew it, I was hooked!
My favorite wrestler was Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. I truly believed he was "the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be." I loved his pink and black ring attire, I loved his famous pink sunglasses and I thought he was the most perfect man.
I would save up my allowance money to pay for Pay-Per-View Wrestling shows that he was on. I asked for Bret Hart merchandise for my birthday and Christmas. I subscribed to WWE magazine and still to this day have the magazines with him on the cover. I even wrote a letter to the WWE when I was 12 years old, telling them what a huge fan I was of Bret 'The Hitman' Hart.
Well, as I got older, I realized that Bret Hart was old enough to be my father, so my 'crush' on him seemed a little creepy, and also the chances of meeting him were slim, especially after he left the WWE.
This all changed last month when I read a post on Facebook from a friend of mine who works in the independent wrestling scene, and he was promoting a show that Bret Hart was going to be at!!
I was immediately brought back to my days of having a huge crush on my absolute favorite wrestler of all time!! I thought, I must get tickets to this show!!! I was willing to pay whatever it cost, but I needed to get my hands on those tickets and meet the guy that was my idol as a kid!!!
I got in touch with my friend and he put me in contact with the promoter of the show and I was able to get my tickets. They were $60/each for a meet and greet, a photo with Bret, and admission to see the wrestling show from the front row. I got two, so my husband could come with me...even though he's not nearly as excited as I am. As I started telling people that I paid $60 to meet a retired wrestler, they told me I was nuts, but honestly, I would have paid a lot more than that. This is my dream come true!!!!
So today, the day is finally here! Later on this afternoon, I'm heading to the PAL Hall in Fall River, with my sweaty palms and heart beating out of control...and I will be meeting my childhood idol, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart!!
This is a huge deal, even bigger and better than meeting Jason Aldean!!!!
