After the Red Sox hung up number 34 for David Ortiz now its the Celtics turn with Paul Pierce.

According to MassLive.com, The Celtics want to make it quite clear that no one else should ever wear the number 34 after Paul Pierce.

Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca said today that the team plans to retire his number this upcoming season. Pierce retired as a member of the Celtics earlier this summer after signing a one day contract with the team.

He didn't mention what game or what day it would happen, but you can be sure it'll be a pretty marquee game. Maybe a game with the Lakers in town would be best suited for the retirement. No matter what I'm sure it'll be a great night for the Celtics legend.
