Celebrate National Jamaican Patty Day in Fall River with Free Meat Pies
If you've never had a Jamaican Patty, this is your chance to indulge and discover what you've been missing.
On Saturday, Aug. 5, Viva Fall River will celebrate National Jamaican Patty Day. Yes, that's a thing.
The organization has linked up with The Path Restaurant and Lounge (820 King Philip St., Fall River), a Caribbean restaurant that will give out samples of its cocktail-sized patties from noon to 2 p.m.
People can choose from three patties offered on their regular menu: chicken, beef and veggie. The restaurant will be open for dine-in and takeout during the giveaway. The menu includes traditional Caribbean and fusion dishes such as jerk chicken, curry goat, coco bread, plantains and shrimp Mozambique.
“Viva Fall River’s mission is to celebrate all the city has to offer," Viva Fall River Executive Director Patti Rego said in a statement. "A major asset is Fall River’s diverse culinary culture, and in turn, the entrepreneurs and small businesses who are sharing their cultures and traditions with us. Promotions and events like this Jamaican Patty Giveaway are a great way for people to discover new cuisines and embrace different cultures, in a way that is low-stress and fun."
The Path restaurant is the 12th location on Viva Fall River’s Self-Guided Meat Pie Tour, which was created to highlight the array of diverse culinary cultures, promote savory meat pies and learn about Fall River's small businesses that create them.
