Fire broke out at an Attleboro home after parents left a candle burning in an infant's bedroom.

ABC6 reports that it was the baby's cries that alerted the parents to the fire in the first place.

The candle was reportedly left burning in the baby's room on Thursday evening and caused a small fire that was called in to the Attleboro fire department around 6:30 p.m.

The Sun Chronicle reports that parents were able to extinguish the fire before fire fighters arrived and the child did appear to be unharmed by the incident, though she was covered in soot.

The one-year-old baby was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital as a precaution.

Fire officials remind people to never leave a candle burning unattended, especially in a child's bedroom.
