Ethan Hawke to Receive Prestigious Coolidge Award in Brookline

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Massachusetts will honor actor, director and writer Ethan Hawke "for his extraordinary contributions to film culture."

A Lifetime of Screen Excellence

In a recent press release, Coolidge Corner Theatre called Hawke, who has been acting for the past 40 years, "one of cinema’s most distinctive and quietly brilliant actors."

From acting alongside Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society to his Academy Award nomination for his role in Training Day, Hawke's been a standout in Hollywood.

The nonprofit theatre will present Hawke with the Coolidge Award, which "recognizes a selected film artist whose work represents original and outstanding contributions to cinema."

It won't be the first time Hawke has been in the Bay State. In 1999, he starred in a Tennessee Williams play at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

In addition to Hawke, the Coolidge Award has been given to many A-list actors.

Special Screenings

Prior to receiving the award, Hawke will take part in a Q&A with audience members viewing his new film Blue Moon at the Art Deco Moviehouse.

Special screenings of some of Hawke's most memorable films will also be shown leading up to the event.
