UK Food Site Makes Surprise Pick For Rhode Island’s Top Diner

The love of an American diner goes way beyond simply serving breakfast all-day.

From the nostalgic look of a diner to the casual atmosphere they offer and of course the large portions at affordable prices, people everywhere love a good diner.

But where are the best diners?

As someone who grew up in Rhode Island, if you asked me to choose the Ocean State's best diner I'd probably first think of the Modern Diner.

This heritage restaurant inside a 1940s Sterling Streamliner was once named one of the top 5 diners in America by the Food Network. Yet a new ranking gives the 'Best Diner in Rhode Island' title to someone completely different.

Lovefood.com is an award-winning website about all things food. From recipes to restaurants, they try to inspire everyone to love food as much as they do. Though based in the UK, they still managed to put out a list of 'The Best Diner in Every State' and they perhaps have a surprise for Rhode Island.

Hidden Gem Rhode Island Diner

That's because the usual diner choices, like the Modern Diner or Jiggers on Main Street in East Greenwich, did not get the top spot. No, Foodlove.com chose Patriots Diner in Woonsocket.

Patriots Diner has all the classic diner elements - shiny, chrome exterior, vinyl booths throughout the interior, huge portions of food and breakfast served all-day. Staff also happen to be massive New England Patriots fans.

The retro charm isn't what landed Patriots on the 'best diners' list however. It was definitely the food. The home-cooked meals served here are absolutely huge.

Stand Out Comfort Foods

Aside from all the breakfast items, Patriots serves up comfort foods like baked meatloaf and chicken parmesan for lunch each day too.

Foodlove.com also pointed out how much people rave about Patriots' friendly staff and fun atmosphere. Clearly a must-try Rhode Island restaurant.

They even offer outdoor seating, so you can have a summer breakfast on their patio.
