Local musician Emily Nawrocki is riding high after receiving a prestigious nomination for Best Pop Song at the 2025 International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMAs).

The Berkley native’s track "Blue-Eyed Baby" has gained recognition, putting her alongside top artists from around the world.

"I submitted online back in November – it was my first single ever released,” Nawrocki said. “Then, a couple of weeks ago, I found out it was nominated. It’s absolutely surreal.”

A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a master's in songwriting, Nawrocki has been building her career with the release of her debut album, Evolving. Her nominated song "Blue-Eyed Baby" captures the excitement of new love.

“It’s about that infectious energy, the feeling of being willing to do anything for love,” she said.

In addition to Best Pop Song, Nawrocki is also in the running for the People’s Choice Award, where fans can vote every six hours.

She’s up against artists from Canada, Portugal, and the Netherlands, making her the only U.S.-based nominee in her category.

Her album was produced at Bongo Beach Productions in Westport by Grammy-nominated producer John Mayo. Reflecting on the journey, she expressed deep gratitude for her family’s support.

"They sent me to Berklee (College of Music), helped with my album. They’ve been my biggest supporters,” she said.

The IPMAs will take place on April 12 at the Providence Performing Arts Center. So how would Nawrocki celebrate a win?

“I honestly haven’t thought about it,” she said. “But I’d definitely be with my family, looking at the trophy, getting teary-eyed.”

"Blue-Eyed Baby" is available on all streaming platforms, and fans can follow Nawrocki’s journey at emilynawrockimusic.com.

Best of luck, Emily!
