ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — Twenty-four people and two dogs have been displaced by a fire at an Attleboro apartment building this afternoon.

According to Attleboro Fire Chief Scott T. Lachance, the department responded at about 1:30 p.m. today for a report of a house fire at 9 Magnolia Street with residents potentially trapped inside.

Injuries and Animal Rescues at the Scene

Crews arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of the three-story, six-unit building. All of the residents were able to get themselves out of the home before firefighters arrived. One resident was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

Lachance said two dogs were also removed from the home, and are expected to survive.
