A small act of kindness and a community's big heart turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a feel-good story in Acushnet.

On the evening of January 23rd, a young mother of two visited Acushnet Creamery around 5:00 PM, treating her children to ice cream and paying with a newly purchased $100 Visa gift card.

However, shortly after leaving, she realized the card was missing. In a panic, she called the creamery at 7:30 PM, hoping for a miracle.

The creamery wasted no time springing into action. They took to Facebook with an urgent plea:

“Facebook, we need your help! A young mother of two came into our shop today… and paid with a brand new $100 Visa gift card around 5:00 PM. We believe it was picked up by another customer in the lot right after she left. She called right away in a panic looking for it, but it was already too late. We are hoping that person could turn it in so we can get it back to her! Please share!!!”

The response was overwhelming. Comments flooded in, with locals offering donations to help replace the lost funds.

“I’m willing to donate to help get this lady her money back!” wrote Mikey Clipz. Sherri King chimed in, “I would be honored to help this young mother out. I will come by tomorrow & replace it & gladly purchase a cone while I’m at it. It’s a win/win the way I see it.” Others suggested a donation jar at the creamery to gather funds over the coming weeks.

But just as the community was coming together to support her, the story took a heartwarming turn.

Within an hour of the Facebook post, the person who found the card in the parking lot saw the message and stepped forward. They admitted to picking up the card, unaware of the situation, and promised to return it to the creamery.

Acushnet Creamery later updated their post with the good news, thanking everyone for their support and generosity.

"UPDATE: The person that found the card has reached out and will be returning it tomorrow. Thanks so much for sharing, we appreciate your help and that there are kind honest people out there & so many people willing to help! We will be turning off the comments to prevent any confusion about whether or not it was returned."

At the end of the day, this whole situation brought out the big heart of a small town and sparked a community that came together to prove that kindness always wins.
