Portuguese Mac and Cheese That’ll Make Even Vavo Proud

This Portuguese-inspired macaroni and cheese offering out of Acushnet is one of those dishes you may want to take home to Vavo.

I'll be the first to admit, no one has been able to make my favorite Portuguese dishes quite like my Vavo. She would be the first to tell if they put too much of this or that, or if they didn't cook it long enough.

Luckily in our area we have lots of choices when it comes to going out and getting authentic Portuguese food, so if Vavo doesn't like the way one place does it, we can take her someplace else.

Blue Point Restaurant in Acushnet really had to go and do this to us. Just the names of these have me drooling: Cacoila Cacaos Mac and Cheese, Bourbon Tips Mac and Cheese or my favorite, Chicken Mozambique Mac and Cheese. Are you seeing these?

Blue Point isn't the only spot that has been making sure pasta and Portuguese food get mixed up, either. A Fall River favorite, Fiorentina Italian Kitchen, has been giving its pasta and pizza some Portuguese flare for a while now. I'm sure there are others as well.

Maybe it's time to have Vavo taste test these mac and cheese dishes. If she is anything like mine was – stubborn – getting them to try something new might take some work, but I'm thinking they will like these.
