I love learning about history. Especially when that history exists right in our own backyard. I was at DnB Burgers in Downtown New Bedford recently, and found out that building that it's located in, has quite an interesting feature. A tree growing through the building.

After talking with Amelia, the owner of DnB Burgers, she told me that back in the day, way back in the 1800's, Elm Street was lined with a lot of elm trees. One of them started to grow through the floor and the people who happened to be in the building at the time just let it be. That is, of course, when the tree became too big and they had to chop it down. But by the looks of it, it was sealed with a gold plate that read, "American Elm Circa 1800" which I thought was cool.

Take a look at the picture I took below. That's quite an old tree stump at least.
