There are currently 250 humans and dogs signed up to participate in the 2019 Run with CARE, Southcoast. This is one of the largest dog races on the east coast. 45 volunteers are helping to make the fifth year of the race run smoothly. They have water stops for both humans and dogs along the three-mile course.

Organizer John Nelson talked to us about the 5K and what makes it great.

“CARE Southcoast is a no-kill, all volunteer shelter serving our area. They rescue both dogs and cats. Last year we raised close to 10k and we will most likely raise that again this year. It is the shelter's biggest fundraiser event of the year. We give out prizes for all age groups and all dogs receive a medal when they finish....my favorite part of the event."

The 5th Annual Run with CARE, Southcoast will take place on Sunday, April 7 at 11 am at the Buttonwood Park Warming House. Eric Morse and his furry running partner, Murdock travel all the way from Vermont and have won the race every year. Let's see if you and your pup can compete with this iconic duo!

You can register online HERE for $25 until Friday, April 5 or the day of the race for $30 at 7:30 am. All pre-registered runners are guaranteed a t-shirt and all dogs that register get a commemorative charm. ALL dogs will receive a medal and a bandana.
