3 things I miss about New Bedford from 'Back in the Day'...

    I Miss Yvette's Drive-In

It was located in the North End near Tarklin Hill and Ashley Blvd. I can remember countless family dinners or quick lunches savoring over the famous onion rings, fish and chips or awesome cheese burgers and fries. Yvette's was a New Bedford institution for nearly fifty years before closing around 1998. I think you could pull up and order your food and they would bring it to the car. And how can you forget their ice cream and shakes. They were the best

The family that owned and operated Yvette's retired and who can blame them after serving us all those years they deserved a little time for themselves  but I cant help think and wish they were still serving up those onion rings today . Just thinking about Yvette's makes me wish I was a kid again.

    I Miss The Juke Box

I know night clubs change over time, but way back when a long time ago you could go to the Juke Box and have a good time, drink a few beers, do some babe-watching, play some pool or just relax. People knew each other and respected each other and Alan Fortes would up in the DJ booth and playing some dance song that FUN107 was playing a million times a week. I would broadcast live the Fun107 Saturday night supermix. I remember Tommy, who just happens to be the tallest guy I have ever met in my life and who could forget Roxy and Mike working the door. Miss those guys and miss those Saturday Nights at The Juke Box .

I Miss the Ferris Wheel at Smugglers Den in The South End

I have to admit I never had a chance to ride on the Ferris Wheel at Smugglers Den but I remember as a kid driving by and seeing it and thinking how cool it looked and what a piece of history it was and how I wished I could ride on it. I think the city should have taken it over and made an city attraction out it. I miss that Ferris Wheel.
