Every now and again we're reminded to "Love Where You Live" and these past few weeks have given me so many reminders as to why I love living in Dartmouth.  Here are the five things about this tiny town that make me proud to call it home.

1.  The Blowout

The Blowout is held each year in August this Dartmouth townie party brings everyone together for eats, drinks and good times while helping to support a new resident each year. Since 1977 this party has been happening on the 2nd Saturday of August and had become one of the shining examples of town coming together to help one of it's own.  This year's Blowout honoree is 9 year old Braiden who was diagnosed with Juvenile Pilocitic Astrocytoma when he was 2 years old. The money will help Braiden's family cover some of the medical costs from multiple brain surgeries and MRI's over the past 7 years.

2.  Apponogansett Beach Music Series

It's real name is the Dartmouth Summer Concert Series but for people who frequent there Wednesday nights, we refer to this gathering of music lovers as Apponagansett Beach Concert.  Half the time we don't know who's playing but you can bet we'll be there anyway, standing in line for an ice cream cone from The Bucket and catching up with  our friends from high school.

3.  The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust (DNRT)

The DNRT is the reason so many of my friends have photos of them on suspension bridges and boardwalk pathways over the marsh that makes you think they are total weekend adventurers. Truth is, there's probably a DNRT  reserve not far from you and if you pack the bug spray and sneakers necessary, you'll be transported to a great outdoor playground that you wish you knew about ages ago.

4.  Padanaram Village

Each summer there seems to be a bit more going on and a few more new shops and eateries to visit. We didn't even realize how much we loved Padanaram Village until a recent shopping trip with out of town guests reminded me that not everyone has a little coastal shopping district that makes you feel like a true-blue New Englander.

5.  The Beaches

Its obviously easy to love the beach in the summer but I love going to our beaches all year long. What's even more appealing to me about the Dartmouth beaches is the long, winding back-road drive it takes to get to some of them- I love it!  Its impossible for me to be in a bad mood after either of these things no matter what time of year it is.
