In a world full of a negative news, it's refreshing to hear stories that remind us how good humanity can be.

On Friday, March 8th, a heartwarming incident in Somerset highlighted the kindness and compassion of local law enforcement officers.

It all started when a woman in Somerset had an unfortunate tumble while getting out of her car on Riverside Avenue. That's when a Somerset Police Officer stepped in to offer assistance. Not only did he ensure the woman was alright, but he also noticed that she had dropped her coffee during the fall. Without a second thought, he made it his mission to fix this small inconvenience for her.

The daughter of the woman involved, Christine Kearney, took to social media to express her gratitude. In a heartfelt Facebook post, she recounted how the officer not only helped her mother but also went out of his way to replace her spilled coffee. Kearney's message resonated with many, shedding light on the positive impact that acts of kindness can have, especially in unexpected situations.

Upon seeing Kearney's post, the Somerset Police Department was quick to identify the officer responsible for the selfless act. Detective Sergeant Nick Davidson, the "young man" in question, was revealed as the individual behind the kind gesture. Despite his reluctance to seek recognition, Sgt. Davidson's actions exemplify the values of empathy and service that law enforcement officers uphold.

Sgt. Davidson refused to pose alone for a picture, but instead insisted that his actions were simply a reflection of what any Somerset Police Officer would do in a similar situation.  A modest and humble man, to say the least- even if he was just doing his job.

Let this unfortunate yet small incident be a reminder that even in the midst of everyday challenges, there are individuals like Sgt. Davidson who embody the spirit of goodwill and empathy.  As we navigate through life's ups and downs, let us also remember the power of compassion that can make a difference in someone's day.

And to officers like Sgt. Nick Davidson, your dedication to serving and protecting goes beyond the call of duty, leaving a lasting impression on those you encounter- one cup of coffee at a time.
