Held on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a nationwide campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between police and fire officials and residents in order to foster partnerships and improve safety in neighborhoods. National Night Out is family-friendly and free to attend.

Here's a list of departments participating in the event on Tuesday, August 6.

New Bedford/Dartmouth *UPDATE - this event has been postponed until Tuesday, August 20 from 1 to 4 pm due to EEE concerns.

The New Bedford Police Department, New Bedford Fire Department, and Dartmouth Police Department will host their National Night Out event at Ashley Park on Rivet Street in New Bedford from 5 to 8 pm.

Attendees will be able to enjoy music, activities, arts and crafts, face painting, raffles and more. The annual police and fire department tug of war competition will also take place during the event. Food and beverages will be provided while supplies last.

"This is a great opportunity to bring first responders and residents together in a fun and relaxed environment," Chief Levesque said. Fairhaven

Join the Fairhaven Police Department and other Town and community organizations for the 3rd annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 6 at Fairhaven High School from 5 to 7 pm. This event is designed to bring local law enforcement together with the community for a night of safety-themed fun. Free food and refreshments will be available courtesy of local establishments. Other activities include a K9 Demonstration by the Bristol County Sheriff's Department and the opportunity to see and touch emergency vehicles and equipment. Don’t miss the State Helicopter landing on the football field at 6 pm!

Tri-Town

Join police, fire, EMS, and harbormaster departments from Marion, Rochester, and Mattapoisett for their event in the parking lot at Old Rochester High School from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. They will have different activities as well as Perry's Ice cream truck selling treats on site. The Mattapoisett Police Department say that pizza and refreshments will also be supplied by local businesses.
