This New Art Installation in Boston Is Turning Heads
What is happening in Boston?
City dwellers were left scratching their heads earlier this month when giant clown heads were spotted wedged between two buildings. Soon after, more and more odd sights began popping up, such as this one:
It turns out these oddities are all a part of a new art experience by the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District.

What Is Winteractive in Boston?
Winteractive is a free, walkable art experience featuring 16 artworks and interactive play elements, presented by the district.
“Inspired by the vibrant winter festivals and art exhibitions of our neighbors in the province of Québec in Canada, we invite you to embrace the joy of winter as you stroll the streets of Downtown Boston,” the district said.
Now through April 14, 2024, stunning art experiences will accompany the hustle and bustle of downtown to attract visitors to the city during the winter season.
“Winteractive promises to be a magical winter experience, creating a new season activation for destination partners to celebrate and promote,” said Meet Boston President and CEO Martha J. Sheridan. “At Meet Boston, we are committed to driving more winter visitation. Immersive public art that animates and illuminates our streets is a very effective way to do so.”
What to Expect
The artwork and design features can be found at 16 different walkable sites throughout the Downtown Boston neighborhood. A map is available online, outlining every feature that can be seen in a 1.25-mile trail.
