Plymouth, Massachusetts was named as one of the best travel destinations for 2020, but how did it crack this travel sites' list?

The Bahamas, the Ausangate Trek in Peru, Zakouma National Park in Chad and Plymouth, Massachusetts are all on Frommer's 20 Best Places to Go in 2020.

So how did this coastal Bay State town make this worldwide list?

Well as the travel site points out, 2020 will be the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower landing at Plymouth Rock. So it is an epic year for this historical town.

And apparently the year to make your way down for a visit.

This time next year, things will be busier than ever in Plymouth. Because if you're going to go, you've got to go around Thanksgiving, right?

The plan for fall 2020 is to have celebrations not only in Plymouth, Massachusetts but also in Plymouth England, the starting point of the pilgrims arduous journey.

The two towns of the same name will have festivals, exhibitions, parades, concerts, tours and interactive demonstrations in the months leading up to Thanksgiving.

Like the arrival of the newly renovated Mayflower II to Plymouth Harbor on May 21, 2020 and of course the America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Parade in November 2020.

I guess it's lucky for us to live so close that we can take in both of these history marking moments and many others that will be planned throughout the year.

Personally I can't remember the last time I made my way to Plymouth Plantation, so maybe planning a trip in 2020 is a perfect plan.
