The New Bedford Whaling Museum has a new President and C-E-O.

According to a press release, the Museum's Board of Trustees has selected Amanda McMullen to fill the post last held by James Russell who resigned last year.

McMullen is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Meeting Street in Providence and The Schwartz Center in Dartmouth, where she oversaw programming, operations, marketing and philanthropic activities.

Whaling Museum Trustees Chair Carol Taylor says the board is confident McMullen will enhance the Museum's impact and advance its mission and strategic priorities.

McMullen says she's excited about joining the Whaling Museum team.  She will start her new job on May 7th.
