Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! Another week, another animal to brag about.

Thanks to the help of local shelters, every week we aim to find the perfect home for one of the hundreds of animals up for adoption on the SouthCoast.

This week, we give the spotlight to an adorable hound dog in New Bedford that would love to play fetch with you.

Meet Gem, a 5-year-old, 60-pound hound mix known for being goofy and playful.

"She can come off as aloof or 'in her own world' when you first meet her but the more time you spend with her, the more you will find out about her sweet and silly personality," Lighthouse Animal Shelter said.

Gem is great with kids and has excellent house manners, but keep a close eye on her in the backyard. She likes to dig.

Gem also loves to play fetch, but don't expect her to bring it back right away. She has a tendency to "fetch and keep away."

Gem loves to go on walks, play with her toys and stay active. She does great with other dogs but she's not the biggest fan of cats. Her forever home will have to be feline-free.

Does Gem sound like a good fit for you and your family? Contact Lighthouse Animal Shelter and schedule a play date today.
