Westport Man Arrested On Arson Charges

A Westport man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with an arson on July 11.

Police tell NBC10 23-year-old Samuel Harwood is accused of setting fire to a commercial logging truck off Old County Rd.

Harwood was arrested following a six-week investigation during which investigators obtained a cell phone from the scene, which was traced back to Harwood.

Police say the truck, which was valued at roughly $ 50,000, was completely destroyed in the fire.

He was arraigned at the Fall River Justice Center on charges of willful and malicious burning of a vehicle and attempted arson and ordered held without bail.
