After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Westport Friends Annual Book Fair will return to town for two back-to-back weeks.

"Having canceled our previous two annual Book Fairs due to the pandemic, we are excited for the return of our Book Fair beginning on July 9, 2022. However, out of an abundance of caution and our desire to practice Covid safety, no refreshments will be offered for sale this year during our opening day."

The protocol seems necessary after a recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across the SouthCoast and surrounding areas. The Friends seek to minimize the risk factor.

The grounds and restrooms will open to visitors at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 9. By 10 a.m., hundreds of paperback books will go on sale at unbelievable prices. Find your next summer read for 25 cents or six for a dollar.

Three huge main tents will open with over 30,000 high-quality books for sale at 11 a.m. These titles can cost up to $5. The grounds will close for the night at 7 and reopen each day through Sunday, July 17.

Both cash and checks will be accepted throughout the fair. Credit cards will only be accepted on the first two days of the sale. Please note that this is also limited to MasterCard and Visa.

The Annual Book Fair will take place from Saturday, July 9 to Sunday, July 17. The fair will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. after opening day.

With over 25,000 books on display, from hardcover to paperbacks, to children and books for young readers, it's the largest book fair by far in our area. They also sell vinyl, CDs, VHS, DVDs and other media.

Visit the big tent located at 938 Main Road in Westport.

The book fair is the signature fundraiser for the Westport Monthly Meeting of Friends (Quakers).

Massachusetts Laws You Don't Even Know You're Breaking

There are a lot of strange laws still on the books in Massachusetts, many that also carry actual punishments and fines. Though we're pretty sure no one has been arrested for the crimes we're about to list, we're also pretty sure you have violated at least one of these laws in the last month or so.
