The SouthCoast should keep an eye out for this special gas pump. It's located in Rochester at the Gulf station outside of Seasons convenience store.

Right off the bat, you'll notice that the graphics on the pump are wrapped, unlike the surrounding pumps.

The CMO for Seasons Corner Market, Sandra Delli Carpini, told us that it's called The Giving Pump.

"For every gallon you pump, and this doesn't cost the customer a cent, Seasons will donate a penny per gallon to Boston Children's Hospital," she said.

Delli Carpini is proud of the charity effort. She said it's amazing how the pennies add up.

"People think about a penny. What can a penny really add up to? But we did this last year, and last year we were able to donate over $60,000."

Seasons has the purple pumps at all of its locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. There are 25 Seasons shops in Massachusetts alone.

"The fundraiser started in August and we're keeping it going through the end of September," Delli Carpini said. "This is our fourth year doing this, and we're hoping to beat the $60,000 from last year."

It's a super-easy way to give to a charity.

Most of us will have to get gas this week anyway. Make it a point to go to the Seasons Corner Market in Rochester and use the purple pump.  Let's try to raise a ton of money for Boston Children's Hospital just by using the special pump at Seasons.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
