The officers stopped the vehicle as it attempted to leave the parking lot, and when they approached, Vacchino – who was the passenger – fled from the car. He was chased by the officers on foot through the parking lot before eventually being apprehended and arrested.

According to police, he was in possession of tools designed to defeat security devices.

It was also learned that Vacchino had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department in New Hampshire, and four outstanding warrants out of various Massachusetts courts.

He is also now charged with shoplifting, two counts of unlawful removal or deactivation of an anti-theft device, unlawful possession of anti-theft deactivator/remover, and fugitive from justice.

Vacchino was held without bail, and was arraigned in Wareham District Court on December 17.
