Rhode Island Classroom Shocked to Get Visit from Movie Star Alum
EGOT icon and Rhode Island native Viola Davis recently stopped by her old high school in Central Falls to talk with theater students and show love to the winner of the Rhode Island Shakespeare Oration Competition.
Davis’s sister, Deloris Grant, is a teacher at Central Falls High School, and she shared the moment her A-List sister surprised her drama and Advanced Placement English classes.

The Boston Globe spoke with Grant about the exciting visit.
“I wanted her to speak to my thespians,” she said. “I see how much they light up on the inside when they see her.”
Davis -- who has won coveted Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards, hence "EGOT" -- financially supports the school’s drama students and she has been an advocate for her hometown for years, working to improve the impoverished community.

How Did No One Run Into Viola Davis?
Davis visited the school last week and it has me wondering how quick her trip to Rhode Island must have been.
Other than the Globe, Davis’s visit to Central Falls has seemingly gone under the radar. When a celebrity of her status visits Rhode Island, it’s typically followed by a slew of sightings in places such as Federal Hill or Newport, but it appears that Davis was on a singular mission: to visit her sister and show love to her sister’s students.
It's so wonderful to hear that she continues to support her alma mater and give back to the place where she grew up.
