More information on an explosion and a fire in a New Bedford housing development over the weekend.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says while the victim is still hospitalized, he has been interviewed by investigators as part of a preliminary investigation. The 56-year-old male received injuries to his face and his head when an explosion erupted just after noon Sunday at 117 Summit Street in the Parkdale Housing Development in the West End.

New Bedford Fire Chief Michael Gomes told WBSM News Monday the victim was not cooperating with officials.

The explosion and resulting fire originated on the second floor of the building in a room where tools were being stored. The Fire Marshal's Office says the tools were carpentry tools.

It's still not known what caused the explosion. The fire remains under investigation.
