NEW BEDFORD — Two people have been injured in a shooting in New Bedford's West End last night, just over a day after another city shooting injured one.

New Bedford police spokesman Lt. Scott Carola said two people were injured and a firearm was recovered from the scene of the shooting.

At around 9 p.m. Thursday, police patrol units responded to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system activation near the intersection of Willow and Bullock streets.

Carola said the officers arrived and discovered two shooting victims had sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A firearm was also recovered from the scene, according to Carola.

The shooting comes just over 24 hours after another shooting in New Bedford's South End injured one man, who was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into this latest shooting is ongoing.
