Maddie describes my eating habits best.  She says I have the palate of a 12 year old boy.  Chicken tenders and fries?  I'm onboard.  It's why I don't like eating out at expensive restaurants.  They always take a simple entree and add a weird ingrediant that I don't like.

That's why when I was asked to cover the Barrett's Waterfront's rollout of their new sushi menu, I was hesitant.  I love Barrett's, but I was nervous that I might not be the best fit to cover a menu that I was unlikely to try.

The sushi chef at Barrett's, though, had a mission.  Out of the kitchen came sushi roll after sushi roll.  There were sushi towers and poke bowls  The chef was determined to get me to try the Barrett's sushi.

Finally, I asked the Barrett's GM, Tim Marques what he would recomment.  Without hesitation, Marques told me to try the Spicy Snowcrab Crab.  He told me that the crab is so incredibly fresh it bursts with flavor.

I don't know what got into me.  Maybe it was because I was so hungry, or maybe I just gave into the visually appealing and colorful presentation, but I did it.  I tried sushi.  And I loved it.

I even used the chopsticks because I have heard my wife and daughter preach that sushi needs to be eaten in one bite to fully enjoy it.  By the end of the night, I was dipping the sushi in soy sauce and popping them like Tic Tacs.

Gazelle encouraged me to try the Red Dragon roll.  It had Tempura shrimp (which I love), avocado, cucumber and topped with tuna and spicy mayo.  I loved those, too.  After I ate a couple of them Gazelle broke the news that I just ate a raw piece of sushi.  The tuna was raw.  I had graduated to big boy sushi after only an hour.

My favorite part of the sushi was the crunchy toppings.  I have to say, eating sushi was delicious, it was Instagram worthy, and the texture of each bite was also quite pleasing.

I'm also told that I might be spoiled forever because the sushi I tried for the first time was so high end.  I guess I'm already a sushi snob.  I think I'm hooked.
