Get those creative juices flowing, because it’s time to plan an epic Halloween costume that is scarier than this year has been.

We have plenty to choose from, too. The “new normal” of 2020 has consisted of binge-watching television, Zooming everyone in our lives, and keeping liquor stores in business. Plenty of unique experiences have brought along creative Halloween costume ideas that would have never been an option last year.

It’s a shame that I’m not planning to go to a Halloween party or planning my own scary soirée. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, but just like my yearly costume, we have to get creative on how we’ll be celebrating.

While some towns aren’t able to participate in traditional trick or treating, there are still safe ways to enjoy this ghoulish night of fun. Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo suggests scavenger hunts or even a small gathering for carving pumpkins. So while Halloween may look a little different, it still has a chance to look as scary as ever.

I have a couple of ideas on what you can expect to see knocking on your door or attending your socially distanced get-together on October 31, and it’s going to be a mixture of scary, clever, and down-right funny. Be prepared for the Tiger Kings, Dr. Faucis, and Cardi Bs. I haven’t quite decided on my own costume, but I’ll be going for a look that depicts just how scary and weird this year has been.
