Talk about going above the call of duty.

In a heartwarming display of teamwork and compassion, the Tiverton Police Department came to the aid of a seagull trapped in fishing line on the Sakonnet River Bridge. The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, September 3rd, drawing attention from concerned residents who alerted the police.

Officer Nicholas Constantino, along with fellow officers and dispatchers from the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, quickly responded to the calls. After assessing the situation, the team worked together to carefully free the bird from the entanglement without causing further harm.

Once freed, the seagull was handed over to Animal Control Officer Victoria Sartini, who transported the injured bird to a local rehabilitation center for proper care and recovery. Thanks to the swift response and collaborative efforts, the bird is now in good hands, receiving the attention it needs to fully recover.

The Tiverton Police Department shared the update with the community, thanking everyone who reached out and helped ensure a safe rescue. Their swift actions verify the importance of looking out for all creatures, big and small.

Kudos, TPD.
