This New Bedford Dog Is No Longer Thriving in a Foster Setting [WET NOSE WEDNESDAY]
Hundreds of animals on the SouthCoast are waiting for the perfect family. Thanks to the help of local shelters, we share their stories. This week, we head to Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford where a young dog needs someone to cheer him up.
Meet Winston, a mixed breed around 4 years old. He used to be very content at the shelter, but lately, he's been feeling down.
"Our shelter is comforting for a lot of the dogs we rescue, but Winnie just isn't feeling it," shelter officials said. "He really needs someone to take a chance on him, let him decompress in a home setting, and show them that he is truly a diamond in the rough."
Winston loved staying outside for hours on end, playing with his doggy friends, playing fetch and winning at tug-of-war. As of late, however, he's been stressed.
He is ready for a forever home so he can settle in and be his true self again.
Winston is smart and highly food-motivated, so training should be fairly easy. He also loves attention and loves meeting new people.
"His ideal home will be patient with him at the start during the transition period from shelter to home," shelter staff said. "With patience, you will have yourself a social, sweet adventure buddy."
