Finding out that we'll have a summer of kids playing sports is one of the best things I've heard in months.

This past Monday when Governor Baker started announcing plans to start to re-open Massachusetts I honestly didn't even have youth sports on my radar. I didn't think it would fall into any of the phases except the last one, which will be our "new" normal, so to speak. And if that had been the case, our youth baseball season would be done before it could begin.

As it stands now and if all of the phases move forward successfully with the three-week "hold" period in between phases, we would be on the baseball field by the end of June and heading into July. This makes me so happy. It makes my boy happy, too.

Some of our most memorable summers have been spent on various baseball fields across Massachusetts and New England. But our favorite ballpark and where it all began for us is, of course, Pope Park in Smalltown U.S.A. itself, Acushnet.

My husband has coached both of our boys and continues to coach our youngest. And now we'll get to see another summer up there with some of our favorite people. Our baseball families are friends for life and summer wouldn't be the same without them. So here's to Phase 3 coming out of this nightmare pandemic, and cheers to youth sports.☀️⚾️
