Say it isn't so?! Well, it could be...a pumpkin shortage just in time for Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin crop experts in Illinois say there should be enough canned pumpkin to go around for Halloween, but they aren't so sure about the following holiday, just a few weeks later, Thanksgiving. They suggest buying all of the canned pumpkin while you can, just in case. "I would not wait until Nov. 20," University of Illinois professor Mohammad Babadoost said, "I'd buy it whenever it comes to the store."

The most familiar store brand of canned pumpkin, Libby's, says they are off by about a third this year. A spokeswoman for Libby's says she is 'confident they will have enough pumpkin for the autumn holidays.' But continues to say, "once we ship the remainder of the 2015 harvest, we'll have no more Libby's pumpkin to sell until harvest 2016."

The reason? Farmers are blaming record rainfall in June for washing out the crop.

So, get your canned pumpkin while you still can!
