Sad news for fairgoers and tractor-pullers, the Westport Fair has been canceled for 2020.

The Westport Fair that was scheduled for July 15-19 not be happening this year, but will resume once again in 2021..

For the past 64 years, the Westport Fair has been an ongoing annual event full of tractor pulls, food, carnival games, farm animals, a petting zoo and tons of crafts.

Horseshoe tournaments and chainsaw competitions were just a couple of highlights that drew thousands of people each year.

Personally, I enjoyed the "class reunion" aspect of the fair where once a year, for five days, you were bound to run into someone familiar that you hadn't seen in years.

Each year, the popularity of the Westport Fair grows larger. Last year alone, I had parked in a lot I didn't even know existed, but since more people were coming from all around the SouthCoast, the Fair Committee had expanded the parking lot to an extra field across the street.

There's no doubt that 2020 has been a year full of disappointments and cancellations due to the coronavirus. It makes me wonder how much longer until the world stabilizes again so we can enjoy the things we love such as concerts, the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament and the Westport Fair. There's only so much Netflix I can watch before losing my mind.

As of right now, the tentative dates for 2021 have not yet been decided, but we will let you know as soon as we hear anything.
