The Unofficial Theme Song for the United Way of Greater New Bedford’s ‘Hunger Heroes’ Food Drive
It's that time of year again for giving to those in need and I'm all about helping our community here on the SouthCoast.
Each year, the United Way of Greater New Bedford alongside Fun 107 and WBSM gather together to collect as many canned food goods and nonperishables for families in need for the Thanksgiving season. All in all, it's a volunteer effort to create holiday meals for the less fortunate and that alone is awarding. It's called the 'Hunger Heroes' food drive and it impacts the community in such a huge way.
This will be the 30th year giving back to the SouthCoast community and unfortunately, due to some severe weather on Saturday, November 12th, we have collectively decided to move the food drive to the following day- Sunday, November 13th. This will benefit both the volunteers and the donators.
Somehow, somewhere, at some moment, the spirit of Thanksgiving took over my brain and I decided it might be fun to write, play, and sing a song in honor of the 'Hunger Heroes' event, so I did just that. I gathered my team of tiny friends who helped me sing the chorus of a song that took me no more than 10 minutes to put together.
This was the final result:
Now, I never admitted to having the voice of an angel, but I did have fun singing. We truly do hope to see you there on Sunday and the best part- you don't even have to get out of your car. You simply pull up, pop your trunk or back door, and we'll take the canned goods from there. It's that easy.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
