The Rochester Country Fair will still go on this weekend, but there have been changes that some will be disappointed about.

The fair will happen this weekend, Saturday and Sunday only, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A post on their Facebook page this morning says, "It is with a heavy heart that we notify you that The Rochester Country Fair was notified by the Rochester Board of Health Monday afternoon of a dusk to dawn curfew."

Due to the high risk of EEE right now in this area, this curfew has been implemented for all town events, the Fair being one of them. Their main concern is for the public, of course. They decided to cancel Thursday and Friday as well as the evening portion of Saturday and Sunday to lessen the risk of EEE.

Having gone to the Fair several years in the past, I know that the Fair's busiest time was always during the popular nighttime events. So, unfortunately, this will have a huge negative financial impact on the Fair.

Saturday the fair will feature antique tractor pulls, an antique tractor show, food and craft vendors, a children’s static play area and corn box, live music by The Strangers at 1 p.m. and Kendra and Jake at 4 p.m.

Sunday will have Smoke & Speed modified truck and tractor pulls, slab pulls, an ice cream eating contest, a horseshoe contest, as well as the children’s static play area and corn box.

Admission to the Fair is free to the public, but donations are gratefully appreciated.
