We all heard the news a few weeks ago that Pier 1 Imports will be closing and liquidating all of its stores, including the beloved Dartmouth Mall location, but surprisingly it re-opened today.

As with any of the businesses closing their doors for good, Pier 1 Imports needs to liquidate as much of its assets as possible. That includes all of its merchandise.

Luckily, I happened to see one of my Facebook friends post that the store was opening today. It will stay open for the next 16 weeks and the hours will be noon to 7 p.m., seven days a week. That's longer than I thought they would be around.

I'm excited. Usually, when a company needs to liquidate, they have some really amazing deals. I've always found that Pier 1 is a bit pricey for me so maybe now I can sneak in and get a few things. I have actually loved a lot of their stuff but am frugal and would never drop $200 on a couch pillow.

They are implementing some safety measures and only allowing15 people in the store to shop at one time, and you should wear a mask while shopping.

Rumor has it that items will start at discounts between 10 and 30 percent off. I think I might wait and take my chances on the selection until closer to the final closing date to see how steep they go.

Anyone else thinking they might take advantage of the situation and get themselves a deal?
