Swansea Man Arrested in Connection to Fall River Bank Robbery
FALL RIVER — Fall River Police have arrested a Swansea man believed to be responsible for the armed robbery of a Rockland Trust Bank branch on Tuesday.
Police said 42-year-old Nicholas Belmore has been taken into custody and charged with armed robbery while masked following the Feb. 21 incident.
According to police, the department received an alarm activation from the 768 Robeson St. bank branch at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
A man had entered the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money, police said.
The bank teller complied with the suspect's demands, and he left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A witness later told police that the man had fled the area in a vehicle that was parked near the bank — and the witness gave a description of the suspect's vehicle, including a license plate number.
The car was found near North Eastern Avenue a short while later, according to police, and officers stopped the vehicle and arrested Belmore on the armed robbery charges.
