As the SouthCoast counts down the days until next Monday, we are hoping and praying that the number of new cases and hospitalizations in the Commonwealth continues to decline, allowing our lives and commerce to slowly return to normal. Each morning on The Rock and Fox Show, we'll spotlight a SouthCoast business leader who is fighting to continue to grow even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This morning we spoke to Dave Moura from ProGroup Contracting, CertaPro Painters and Residential Services. Dave and his crews handle all kinds of construction from interior renovations to painting.

Dave said he began planning for business beyond COVID-19 before it really even arrived here on the SouthCoast.

"I absolutely think the worst of this is over and we've been looking beyond it since day one,"  Moura said, noting he and his staff maintained their focus during the chaotic time and always had a plan to come out on the other side of the crisis.

One of the main things that Moura and his team focused on was training. Much of that training surrounded new COVID-19 policies and procedures, but there was also a customer service element as well.

"The slowdown gave us a little time to innovate and make the necessary changes to deal with the virus," he said.

Moura says that he is hiring in all of the divisions of his company –at the national level as well as the local level.

"We're interviewing and hiring, looking for more painters and carpenters to train up, as well as project managers and estimators because I really am expecting a bounce," Moura said optimistically. "If you think about how fast this changed for the worse, why wouldn't I think it could change for the better just as quickly?"
