We have a great selection of fast food joints here on the Southcoast.  But, as the saying goes..."Variety is the spice of life."  Having lived in the southwestern part of the country for the better part of 3 years, I've experienced a couple of fast food restaurants that have yet to appear in southeastern Massachusetts.

Top of the wish list, In-N-Out Burger.  This franchise has thrived in California, Arizona and Nevada due to its simple menu and great service.  In-N-Out is one of the few fast food places that pays their employees above minimum wage, and carefully monitors customer service.  According to their website, the menu consists of 3 burger varieties:  Hamburger, cheeseburger, and double double cheeseburger.  French fries and fountain drinks are also served.  However, there is a "secret" menu listed on the website with items that are available at every location.  They include a grilled cheese sandwich, and Animal Style burgers and fries.  Those come with mustard, grilled onions and their sauce, called "spread."  One visit to an In-N-Out Burger and you'll be back for more.

The other "wish list" place is Culver's.  Their slogan is "Welcome to Delicious."  Culver's does have a few locations in Massachusetts, with the nearest to the Southcoast being in Quincy.  You can also find a Culver's in Maine and Connecticut.  The restaurant features their "Flavor of the day," their Frozen Custard, Butterburgers, Chicken and Fish sandwiches, Crinkle Cut Fries, Chili Cheddar Fries, Onion Rings, Cheese Curds and sides of mashed potatoes, cold slaw, and green beans.  The next time you are in Quincy or Salem give Culver's a try.  You won't be disappointed.
