SouthCoast Collaboration Keeps Breakfast Tradition Alive

After a SouthCoast staple closed its doors indefinitely, another local business stepped up to keep a tasty tradition alive.

A brand new collaboration between two popular local spots begins Friday, where both Mirasol’s Cafe locations in Dartmouth and Fairhaven will begin carrying linguica cheese rolls and donuts from GrandMa’s Donuts and Coffee.

The partnership comes shortly after the closure of Sunrise Bakery in New Bedford and Dartmouth, which had long been a go-to supplier for those classic SouthCoast breakfast staples.

A Sweet and Savory SouthCoast Team-Up

Rather than let those fan-favorite items disappear, GrandMa’s Donuts owner Hannah Lemieux stepped up to the plate to help fill the void.

Beginning Friday, March 6, customers visiting Mirasol’s will be able to grab GrandMa’s freshly-made linguica cheese rolls and donuts alongside their usual coffee favorites.

If you know the SouthCoast breakfast scene, you know linguica cheese rolls are practically a morning "go-to" around here. Pair that with a classic honey-dipped donut and a coffee from Mirasol’s and you’ve got a pretty serious breakfast lineup.

Keeping a Local Favorite Alive

Sometimes it's difficult to fill the shoes of a business as established as Sunrise, but there's no doubt about it that if anyone were to step in, it's GrandMa's.

“Happy to help and looking forward to working with Mirasol’s,” Lemieux said while prepping for the initial launch.

From the outside looking in, it feels like a pretty smart move for both businesses. Mirasol’s customers get access to another iconic SouthCoast breakfast option, and GrandMa’s Donuts gets more exposure and becomes more accessible to Fairhaven locals.

Honestly, when all is said and done, it's refreshing to see local businesses supporting each other while keeping the classics alive and well. Brilliant move on both parties involved.
