Sneak Peek at Designs for New Bedford Multi-Use Cannabis Facility
Although it still has yet to get any kind of approval from the City of New Bedford, a proposed recreational marijuana business is sharing some proposed designs.
Whisk & JANE LLC has been battling the City over zoning, with an eye toward opening a private, members-only consumption lounge at 161 Pope’s Island, the site of a former strip club.
But this week, they unveiled on social media a sneak peek of what they have planned for the location.
On the company’s Instagram page (Instagram.com/whiskandjane), Whisk & JANE put up conceptual images of the proposed amenities of what they are calling “the premiere multi-purpose recreational cannabis facility.”
The building will combine a recreational cannabis dispensary, The Cotton Refinery; a private members-only consumption lounge, The Whisk Mill; and an artisan cultivation site, Green Lion Cannabis. According to the Instagram post:
“The Whisk & JANE premiere multi-purpose cannabis facility will integrate a high-end industrial farmhouse style with finishes that will highlight our community’s whaling and manufacturing history. Blending materials such as reclaimed shiplap, cobblestone, brick and wrought iron throughout allows us to display the natural elements in honoring our home of New Bedford, MA.”
The Cotton Refinery, according to the post, will be built from a vision “rooted from the cotton plantations of the south and spans to what was once the booming cotton textile industry that boasted New Bedford as one of the leading product manufacturers in the world.”
The Whisk Mill will “elevate comfort food classics with a one-of-a-kind dank dining experience, and create a unique atmosphere where we will require our guests to ‘power down to level up,’” according to the description. “Join the Personal Device-Free Private Members Only Lounge to indulge in exclusive edibles while safely consuming your choice of premium cannabis-related products.”
The Whisk Mill will also “feature farm-to-fork dining options sourced directly from The A.V. Rose Farm, one of the oldest black-owned farms in Massachusetts (1913), located in Rochester, as well as other local farms.” Plans also include having one day a month where The Whisk Mill will host “revolving chef dinners” with special guest chefs.
These images are all just conceptual designs, but indicative of the experience Whisk & JANE hopes to provide cannabis consumers on the SouthCoast.
