BOSTON — A fisherman aboard a New Bedford-based vessel is airlifted after the captain of the boat contacted the Coast Guard.

The captain of the 88-foot Generation contacted Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod at around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday to report that one of his crewmembers, a 54-year-old man, had fallen ill.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on the scene, about 42 miles off the coast of Nantucket, and hoisted the man into the helicopter.

The man was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital for further care. He is reported to be in stable condition.
